ABSTRACT
COMMENTARIES should note areas of agreement and disagreement with the essay in question and provide additional insights into the issue. Here, the issue is “intrapersonal” communication. Let me then offer (a) an assessment of Cunningham’s rather bruising critique of the intrapersonal idea and the limited research explicitly studying it, (b) a different way to address the problems Cunningham correctly defines, and (c) my own argument for the best approach to this troubled notion of intra-personal communication given my theoretical commitments and best sense of what is unique about the communication discipline.
