ABSTRACT

Professors Kreps and Reardon have presented a number of important issues in their respective essays on health communication. I have been asked to respond to their ideas and hope to accomplish three tasks: (1) to review briefly the health-care context particularly as it exists in the United States; (2) to shed some critical light on Kreps’s and Reardon’s chapters; and (3) to offer an alternative to the information and persuasion perspectives.
