ABSTRACT

Make sure that your diction is clear and that you do not speak too quickly. On the field you will need to project your voice to a greater extent. Indoors, speaking quietly will make the pupils listen more and will decrease the level of background noise. Keep your instructions brief and to the point. Make it short, sharp and punchy. Do not make more than one point at a time

• Don’t blind them with science

Pupil activity

Pupils should be constantly active unless you are giving instructions or teaching points, demonstrating, or exchanging questions and answers. Pupils should also be given opportunities to evaluate their own and other performance. Think very carefully about the use of relay type games, because there will be much inactivity and non-participation and a greater opportunity for pupils to disrupt the lesson.
