ABSTRACT
China is a developing country in the midst of transitioning to a market economy. Yet, it is emerging as a major force in the world economy, and increasingly has the impact of a developed country – one that accounts for over 20 per cent of the world’s population, more than four times the size of the United States and nearly three times that of the European Union.
