ABSTRACT
Balmforth, Edward E. “Getting Our ROKS Off.” Combat Forces Journal1621. 1 (February 1951): 22-25.
Describes the problems encountered in August 1950 when, due to manpower shortages, one thousand Republic of Korea soldiers were integrated into the U.S. 17th Infantry of the 7th Division. Many problems were encountered with matters such as language difficulties and an attempt to use the “buddy system” to integrate the foreign soldiers. U.S. soldiers kept asking when they would get rid of the ROKS. Criticizes the U.S. Army for improper orientation and training procedures.
