Introduction: The resource curse and authoritarianism in the Caspian petro-states

Three of the eight post-Soviet states in Central Asia and the South Caucasus regions are significant exporters of oil or natural gas: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. This book analyses some of the political complexities surrounding the petroleum sector in these three countries, all of which are littoral states of the Caspian Sea.
