Chapter 3 Supporting people with learning difficulties to do their own research

In the ‘Journey to Independence’ project, we have done all the research. We are people with learning difficulties, and the research is about how we think and see and understand. Other people who don't have a learning difficulty wouldn't be able to do it… some people may think that people with learning difficulties can not be researchers, but we know that we can do it. In a lot of research, we are the exhibits. But now we are not just part of the picture — we are the artists of our lives.
