ABSTRACT
We are a group of mental health service users who came together following an approach by the local health group (LHG). This is our story, of how we perceived the research project we were requested to undertake. The Trust had received funding from the LHG. This funding was used to establish a research-based project working in conjunction with the local university looking at acute psychiatric services offered by the local Trust. Initially the Sainsbury's Foundation for Mental Health was involved. This was the first time the Sainsbury's Foundation had done this type of research in Wales although they had done similar research many times before in England.
