ABSTRACT
Schwartz (2004) characterized Japan as a Confucian Asian country. Confucian Asia combines a strong stress on hierarchy (ascribed roles and obligations), embeddedness (independence and shared collectivism) and mastery (assertive actions to change the world). The region also accentuates collectivism.
