ABSTRACT

The study of ethics in human resource management (HRM) in Latin America is becoming increasingly important as organizations competing internationally often face a different set of ethical beliefs than those within their own societies. Globalization has increased the significance and influence that organizations have worldwide, therefore it is important to explore ethical practices and their influences on areas such as decision-making on individuals, societies, and organizations in different parts of the world. Human resource (HR) practices are intricately tied to the ethical beliefs of cultures as HR seeks to bridge the needs of working individuals and organizations within the framework of the values, beliefs, morals, and attitudes of the society in which the organization operates. The study presented here was designed to contribute to the development of best ethical practices in HRM in Latin America by assessing data on how business ethics is currently taught and practiced. It is based on the most relevant literature available, using well-known Western ethical theories as a starting point.
