ABSTRACT
In Chapter 7, we observed Ms. Romero and Mr. Jackson employ presentation and explanation to provide students with background knowledge for a unit on “Race Relations” and the study of the historical novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. In this chapter, we will use this classroom situation again to describe how these two teachers now turn to text, multimedia, and the Internet to provide students with background knowledge on a variety of topics associated with their unit.
