ABSTRACT
Our analysis uses data from the English National Pupil Database (NPD) and individual student records kept by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), linked to a third dataset, the Individual Learner Record (ILR) provided by the Learning and Skills Council. Our information on examination results is further enhanced by an additional dataset known as the ‘cumulative Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5’ file.
