ABSTRACT

Among the numerous controversies which arose from the Iraq war was that which related to the media-its role and its reporting. Lombardo, in the previous chapter, found striking differences in how the war was reported by the CBS anchor and the BBC news presenter. This chapter, on the other hand, discusses whether, and the extent to which, TV news in the UK (BBC) and in the US (CBS) may have differed in their coverage of the confl ict by looking in particular at how the two sides and the military action were represented.
