ABSTRACT
Because the helping process in group practice is so complex, it is useful to analyze it against the backdrop of time. The four phases of work are: the Preliminary (or Preparatory) Phase; the Beginning (or Contracting) Phase; the Middle (or Work) Phase; and the Ending and Transition Phases.
