ABSTRACT

At the outset, I need to make it clear that I am quite sure that the idea for this lesson is not my own. Like many teachers, I incorporate ideas from wherever and whomever I can. Th ese ideas get adapted based on resources, students, and instructional goals, so that sometimes the fi nal lesson is not identifi ably related to the original. Unfortunately, I don’t remember when or where I came across the instruction that gave me the idea for this lesson. If forced to guess, the names of the two best teachers and mentors I know would fi rst come to mind: Dr. David Naylor of the University of Cincinnati and Dr. Diana Hess of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
