ABSTRACT
Upland agriculture in Northeast Thailand depends on rainfall, on the market, and on intermediaries. Market fluctuations and the availability of water dictate which crops to produce and how much, while producing market-driven commodities means relying on people who act as links between upland farmers and the market.
