ABSTRACT

Since the latter part of the 20th century, Alzheimer’s disease has come to join cancer as one of the great health threats of our time. Indeed, it may be an even greater threat than cancer has been. Whereas cancer is a pathological process attacking our physical being, Alzheimer’s is seen to be a process that attacks the mind, the very essence of our humanity. Alzheimer’s is not principally about potential death of the body, but about death of the Self.
