ABSTRACT

Angular kinetics is one of the features of gymnastics that best defines the sport. Gymnastics is not so much about running, stamina, riding a conveyance, throwing some-

thing, hitting something, outsmarting a direct opponent or gaining ground on a standardized playing field – gymnastics is about spinning. Gymnasts flip and twist, rotate and revolve and use flight time and the apparatus to perform these skills. Angular kinetics is about the forces and torques, moments of force and inertia, conservation laws, Newton’s angular analogues to linear kinetics and other topics.
