ABSTRACT

Bullying and peer victimization are ubiquitous phenomena that many students experience during their school years. While all students have the right to learn in a safe and nonthreatening environment, bullying usurps students of this basic right. This chapter will link theories and research about bullying behaviors, which will form the foundation for a review of effective school-based practice. Intervention programs that have been empirically evaluated will be presented, keeping in mind the developmental needs of students as they progress from preschool through high school.
