Where Have We Been, and Where Are We Going?

Our charge for this chapter is, in part, to see if we have a lot of new material, or “old wine in new bottles.” We are expected to go beyond that, however, and our comments will focus on three general themes: ties to the past, implications for theory and conceptual developments, and implications for training in the workplace. Each of the preceding chapters has put differing stress on these themes, and some just touch on one or another.
