You know, none of this that you see here—this building, all these people working here, today’s workshop—none of it matters without us having faith in there being oil in the Barents Sea. It is all about having faith. It is the single most important thing in everything we do, to really believe that somewhere in this vast area there is oil waiting to be found … the reason I quit working in [a competitor] was that [a top manager] had no faith in there being significant discoveries to be made within the area. Then it all collapses, then there’s no point.
