ABSTRACT
In this volume, we set before ourselves a central problem of the contemporary world – a world in which culturally and ethnically distinct communities increasingly impinge upon one another. We investigate the parameters of constructive conflict transformation (Kriesberg 2007). We pose this question: short of the unilateral capitulation of one group of partisans to its rivals, under what conditions do adversaries forego violent confrontation in favor of negotiation and compromise?
