ABSTRACT
Preventing bio attacks before they occur is obviously the most desirable goal – indeed, the adage of an “ounce of prevention” being worth a “pound of cure” is nowhere better illustrated than in the case of bioterrorism. The twenty-first century will be the century of biology and biotechnology. Advances in biology and biotechnology open new opportunities to benefit humanity but also the potential for the development and use of biological weapons (BW).
