ABSTRACT

Any librarian or library paraprofessional is extremely aware of the rapidly changing environment found in today’s libraries. Michael Gorman summarizes the state of libraries today saying that “we are deep into an era in which digitized information and electronic resources dominate our working life and professional discussions.”1 New technology and advances in service as well as online environments that change daily make it necessary for libraries to continually train staff. As Westbrook points out, “in a field whose unofficial motto is ‘the only constant is change,’ serious efforts at ongoing library staff development constitute fundamental concern for all levels of management.”2
