Early Labour Market Experience and the Timing of Family Formation

As argued in the introduction to this volume, the increasing labour market participation of women is a major factor behind changes in the nature of the family and the relationships it comprises. Though much studied, the impact of employment, and in particular of early labour market experience, on marriage and fertility outcomes is of key importance in understanding the process of family formation.
