ABSTRACT
In recognition that, internationally, there were limited data on the link between housing conditions and health effects, the first recommendation made by a housing and health expert meeting convened by WHO in Paris in 2000 (WHO 2000) was the designing and carrying out of a large, exploratory pan-European housing survey. The intention of this survey was to try to identify and compare the health risks associated with housing conditions in several European cities and to identify action priorities.
