ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes the performance of Dutch wind cooperatives. It is part of a comprehensive study focusing on wind energy for electricity generation, analyzing the evolution of the wind-power market in The Netherlands. This study analyzes the main types of wind-power entrepreneurs, their capacity to implement wind energy, and the social and institutional conditions that affected their investments in three successive market periods: ‘Monopoly powers’ (1996-1997) ‘Interbellum’ (1996-1997), and ‘Free market’ (1998-2004) (Agterbosch 2004, 2006, 2007).
