ABSTRACT

Three distinctive features lie in this ‘argumentative turn’. First, it challenges the epistemology and paradigm grounded on Positivism, and digs out new theories beyond Positivism and Empiricism and therefore it rebuilds the fundamental policy studies framework. A wide range of studies can be seen as a relevant endeavour for this ‘dig-out’, including analysis of daily life languages in Britain, post-structuralism in France, critical theory advanced by the Frankfurt School and the reframing of American pragmatism. Narrative analysis and other research methods are also developed from these efforts.
