ABSTRACT

Orthostatic posture and movement functions are very complex adaptive and integrative functions of the child in today’s sedentary environment. The lack of physical activity (Juskeliene et al., 1996) associated with prolonged sitting periods (Linton et al., 1994) are implicated in the appearance of poor postures and/or functional deformities of children. Scoliosis may appear during childhood and aggravate during the pubertal growth spurt, but importantly, it may also determine pain syndromes and stress pathologies later in life.
