ABSTRACT

The electronic equivalent of the storybook is the eBook and it is proliferating as a reading source for young children in a media-saturated world. Most major publishing houses, and many major libraries now offer eBook collections for young children. The New York Public Library, for example, lists a collection of 329 eBooks for young children (https://ebooks.nypl.org/812DC61A-F967-4795-8E061D9044D2A000/10/206/en/BrowseChildren.htm" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">https://ebooks.nypl.org/812DC61A-F967-4795-8E061D9044D2A000/10/206/en/BrowseChildren.htm), including many childhood favorites and a variety of genres. eBooks are commercially available for iPods, cell phones, home computers, CD players, and television monitors in cars.
