ABSTRACT
Consider the relative merits of close attention to concordance lines in corpus approaches, on the one hand, and attention to context, on the other. Consider the relative advantages and disadvantages of using small and large corpora. Consider the potential contribution of corpus linguistics to the study of language above the levels of lexis and grammar, where it began. To what extent do you agree with Lee’s examples as instances of ‘corpusbased’ discourse analysis? Consider the potential contributions of corpus-based analysis to genre analysis and genre analysis to corpus study, as claimed by L. Flowerdew.
