ABSTRACT

A clear picture of the status of the profession of school psychology internationally is an essential foundation for building its future (Oakland & Cunningham, 1992). As the field of school psychology continues to develop around the world, it is important to monitor the current trends regarding the interrelated domains of training, role, and responsibilities of school psychologists. Although emphasis is usually placed on provision of services and the role of school psychologists, these domains are equally important, and training is essential in the evolution of school psychology worldwide. On the basis of the concerns described in the relevant literature, a conceptual framework has been presented incorporating science and professional practice competencies influencing school psychological services.
