ABSTRACT

In soccer, the period from 9 to 13 years of age is commonly called the golden age. This period is considered most important for training soccer players because the efficiency of acquiring techniques is high, but the period overlaps with the adolescent growth spurt, increasing the risk of incurring injuries. An imbalance in physical growth occurs during the growth period and extension stresses on muscle and tendon may be very likely to injure musculoskeletal junctions. Sports injuries during the growth period have been associated with the increase in height per year, which suggests that this height increase is involved in the occurrence of enthesis pain that characterizes the growth period.
