ABSTRACT

Although my family members do not seek contact with my patients, sometimes their worlds collide. At times, my husband is watering the lawn as someone pulls up in front of our house. Other times my young adult children may, in their comings and goings, see someone in our driveway. Once in a while, a patient is coming out of the bathroom and spots one of my family members in a hallway. My husband and children are used to this sort of interface. And I strongly suspect that patients who would be disturbed by this kind of exposure to my family weed themselves out quickly and seek other therapists.
