ABSTRACT

As American higher education continues to become increasingly diverse, so will the needs of and challenges faced by our students. It is possible that creating engaging campus environments was easy when the overwhelming majority of students was male, heterosexual, Christian, and economically auent. at is, at some point in history, doing the exact same thing for everyone likely produced the same or similar results. Perhaps sta in the student activities oce, for example, had it easier when one set of programs was appealing to all students. Or maybe professors got away with less planning when there were fewer cultural perspectives to be considered in readings, curricular development, and class discussions.
