ABSTRACT

Ignored or forgotten information, such as that mentioned in the above example, offers a unique possibility in supervision. They can become manifest through student blank-outs, unfinished sentences, slips of the tongue or left aside aspects (‘You mean, he is not just a patient, he is also a man?’). As in psychotherapy, supervision may offer a unique exploration into the unknown, in order to expand the domain of consciousness and enable the student to conduct his work with more awareness, freedom and choice.
