ABSTRACT

In this section we look at two phenomena, widespread concern about the environment with reference to the problems and opportunities this poses investigative journalists; and how The Cook Report has made investigative journalism into popular theatre. Taken together they focus our attention on how complicated scientific issues can be dealt with by the media, and the risks of trivialisation, of tendentious sourcing and of misinformation.
