ABSTRACT
The trade union movement in Asia has undergone rapid transformation over the past two decades as many Asian economies have embraced the processes of democratization and globalization. Two important factors have led to these changes; the external influences of foreign capital and international trade with the acceleration of global competition, and the internal factors of democratization, economic and institutional reforms, and an increased awareness of individual rights among citizens in both developed and developing Asian economies.
