ABSTRACT

The book College of the Oerwhelmed: The Campus Mental Health Crisis and What to Do About It, by Kadison and DiGeronimo (2004), has enjoyed great popularity with a diverse range of audiences including parents, students, counseling center directors, and student affairs professionals. The authors’ smoothly written narrative style richly captured a major transition in the general level of mental health issues and problems of the current generation of college students along with addressing a variety of important related issues. The authors conclude that there is a crisis on campus leaving people feeling hopeless and helpless. They question what colleges are doing about the crisis and what more should be done.
