Income inequality and the economic position of women in Norway 1970–2002

This chapter studies individual income inequality in Norway during the period when the majority of Norwegian women acquired some degree of economic independence. In the 1950s and 1960s, the labor force participation of Norwegian women was fairly low. It increased dramatically during the 1970s, and is now in line with the other Nordic countries, and among the highest in the world.
