And there it was. I was sitting on my couch sometime in July or August of 2006, after having

dinner with Brian Ott, and we were viewing a mini-marathon of the shortlived series Lucky Louie (which had already been cancelled by then for all we knew). And, of course, since we are both scholars working in media studies, the soundtrack of the show was drowned out by our own meta-commentary tracks, on-the-spot criticisms, and, of course, the occasional: “Can you believe some of the shit they’re saying in a sitcom?”1
