ABSTRACT
Art, particularly music, is rarely isolated from its time and place. Aff ected by events, it often refl ects events in turn. When a revolution or a war breaks out, musicians can be deeply aff ected, and often, with other members of the population, they suff er injuries, lose their means of support, and even die.
