ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: It is important to assess the structural performance of existing bridges from the viewpoint of their adequate maintenance and extending their life cycle. Then, the guideline for evaluating the structural performance of the bridge based on the monitoring was published by one of the scientific committee of Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). The guideline prescribes the basic issue for assessment of the bridge through the monitoring, the method of the structural monitoring and assessment, and the intervention according to each life cycle stage of bridges such as during construction and commissioning trials, and in service. The guideline also establishes the harmonization of three international standards, that is, ISO 13822, ISO 14963 and ISO 18649.
