ABSTRACT
Museums play an important role in shaping and defining a person’s cultural identity and this chapter investigates ways in which such identities are made. If we accept that visitors are not passive but active participants in the museum experience and engage with the museum through memory and reminiscence then, by examining this process, we can begin to understand how such changes in identity are produced.
