ABSTRACT
Cities are shaped by transport and hence sustainable transport – good transit, walkability and cycling facilities – should help shape sustainable cities. This chapter tries to show how this can be facilitated by urban designers through knowing how dense to make centres. This is analysed through a theoretical approach based on travel time budgets (TTBs).
