ABSTRACT

Bulgaria has experienced the impact of the interacting processes of integration and transition since the early 1990s. The economic forces and dynamics generated by these two processes have had important consequences for the structural and spatial regularities of the economy. The operation of market forces and the adoption of a reform agenda in all aspects of internal organization and external relations structures has been a long and painful process of restructuring, confronted with serious difficulties. These difficulties and delays in the process of restructuring have resulted to the delayed accession of Bulgaria to the EU.1
