ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: In GIS, geographic information can be represented in object or field views. Field modelling is widely applied in many natural and social sciences. In this paper, we introduce a new method to represent spatial phenomena as dynamic and continuous fields and extend spatial SQL for field querying. The issues of structure, data types, operating predicates and functions of analytical fields are discussed. The spatial database extension of analytical fields can facilitate representation, transaction, analyses and display of those continuously distributing and dynamically changing geographic phenomena.
