Ruminations of a wooly mammoth, or training and advising in counterinsurgency and elsewhere during the Cold War

From something between riding with Lawrence of Arabia and trying to control a yard full of puppies, my time spent training, equipping, advising, and leading indigenous forces has been memorable. Hopefully, in addition to providing me with lots of stories, some even worth a round or two, some of this may be of value to the next practitioner of the occult. I am going to do this in chronological order because it is easier to overcome my creeping senility that way.
