ABSTRACT

Try to imagine the amount of knowledge used during a business day. Understanding all of the knowledge activated when one company sends an electronic invoice to another company is challenging enough. Behind such a simple operation there are decades of development endeavours concerning related hardware and system solutions. If one of the two parties involved in the transaction tried to develop the existing solution a bit further, the reactions from human as well as physical resources would be even more complicated to overview – at least in advance. In retrospect, however, such reactions might be seen as an illustration of all the specific knowledge that, in one way or another, was affected by the introduction of something new.
