ABSTRACT

Recent US census figures confirmed a phenomenon that I have been anticipating for some time. The changing demographics show that Latinos make up the largest minority group in the United States (37 million). According to one study, Latinos represent the majority of births in California. As I reflect on these statistics, I return to the ways in which these demographics impact the study of human sexuality in the United States. I am also reminded of why I first began to conduct sexuality research with Latino immigrant populations.
